In recent years, private universities in Morocco have emerged as an attractive option for many students. These institutions have been welcomed for offering diverse educational programs that are relevant to labor market needs. However, critics point out that this growth could turn into a "class privilege" that is limited to access by a specific segment of society.
Worrisome Future or New Opportunities?
As private higher education continues to expand, there is a need to think of solutions to ensure equitable access to this type of education. Otherwise, we may witness a future duality of "degree-holding graduates" and "graduates without opportunities," which could fuel social crises.
It seems that the future of private higher education in Morocco is somehow intertwined with social inequalities. Therefore, there is a need for effective planning and policymaking to prevent these institutions from becoming tools of social stratification.
